One way to improve your SMS results is to personalize your messages. We’ve found that personalized Broadcasts perform up to 20% better! And, it’s easy to do. Here’s how it works:

Begin typing out your Broadcast, click the variables icon </> in the bottom right corner, and select the “name” variable.

Not all subscriber records include a first name, so you can add a name default. Otherwise, subscribers without a first name will see a blank space in the Broadcast where their name should be.

To add a name default, click on the “name” variable once it’s been added to the Broadcast. A form field will appear, where you can enter the default word you’d like to use.

We recommend using a name default that matches your brand voice. Some brands use words like “there,” “babe,” or “friend.”

Then, just hit enter. Note that the name default will only be used for the specific Broadcast you added it to. It will not be saved, so you’ll have to add it each time you send a Broadcast.

Please note that the the maximum character limit for your message content is 1,000 characters.

That’s it! You can even A/B test personalizing your Broadcasts with our A/B testing feature.
