Website popups are the fastest way to grow a list of highly engaged SMS subscribers. Before we get started, here are some tips to maximize subscriber collection through your popups:

  1. Use Mobile & Desktop. Activate popups for both platforms to reach the most traffic.
  2. Offer a discount. Aim for at least 10% (but know that many brands offer more).
  3. Collect SMS + Email. Our dual capture popup allows you to collect both, so you don’t cannibalize either channel.
  4. Customize for your brand. Include your brand’s logo, colors, and more. (We can do this for you!)
  5. Activate the bubble tab/bar. Add a bubble tab/bar so even if a visitor closes the popup at first, they can access it later—these generate an average of 50% more opt-ins. (You can find this under "styles.")

To get started, click here.

Step 1: Design your popup

First up is the design. We make it easy by adding your logo and brand colors for you! Just select which devices to display your popup on (we recommend desktop + mobile to reach the most traffic), and we’ll pull in your logo and colors from your website. You can easily edit it, but this is the fastest way to get started.

Once you select the device type, in just a few seconds you’ll see your branded popup. If you chose desktop and mobile, you can toggle between the previews by clicking the device icon right above the preview.

The first screen allows you to change the logo, size, and placement.

Step 2: Modify design and offer as needed + connect ESP

If you’d like to modify the discount, text, font or button that we automatically created you can do so under “Text Fields” This is also where you’ll connect the popup to your email provider to automatically send email addresses. See more detailed instructions to connect your popop to Klaiyo here, or Mailchimp here.

Next up is the background—you can use a solid background color, or you can even upload a background image. The file size cannot exceed 1MB.

Step 3: Add a bubble tab and bar to drive more signups

Lastly, click on Styles to add a bubble tab and bar. When a visitor closes the popup, the tab or bar will remain visible (depending on what device they’re on) so they can easily get back to the popup and sign up. These generate an average of 50% more opt-ins. Just select your colors, and make sure the copy lines up with the offer on the popup!

When you’re finished with your popup, click Next at the bottom.

Step 4: Create your welcome message

Once a customer opts in, you’ll need to send them a welcome message along with a discount code if you offered a discount on your popup. These automated messages are sent through our Experiences feature, which allows you to create two-way conversations with your customers.

The first Experience listed will welcome new subscribers, give a discount, and follow up if they haven’t yet used the discount. You can preview the conversational flow by clicking on “Preview.”

We also recommend activating the Abandoned Checkout Experience—this allows you to recover more sales by texting customers when they abandon their checkout. We recommend offering a discount for the best results, but it’s not required. We’ll automatically generate a discount code for your customers to use.

Then, just hit Activate! Your popup will be live on your site within seconds, and your Experiences will start firing as soon as customers opt in or abandon.
